Face the facts.
Our face is the first thing people see. Throughout the year it is subjected to the elements and over time can become dry, dull and wrinkles are formed. So what can we do about it?
There are three main factors to consider when looking after our skin. Firstly drink lots of water. We hear it time and time again but for something to grow and stay nourished we need to hydrate it. The cells in your skin are made up of water that need a constant supply. The toxins in your skin also need to be flushed away. Secondly is protection. We may be good at applying SPF on holiday but the suns UV rays are all year round. Even on a cloudy day using an SPF should be part of your daily routine. Lastly sleep, your skin needs to heal and repair itself; it does this when we are resting.
Keep it Simple
There are hundreds of serums and creams on the market and it can be overwhelming when choosing the correct product. Here is a routine to get you started. Gently exfoliate your skin a couple of times a week, this can be done with a gentle exfoliation mitt. Removing the dead skin from the surface will allow products to absorb easier and gives it a good clean. Moisturise with a balancing moisturiser, balance is the key word here. You have oils in your skin called sebum. It is produced naturally and is essential for hydration. If we use a heavy product for oily skin it will dry out the sebum. Therefore your skin will produce more leading to a greasy complexion. The same way if you use a cream for dry skin the sebum can reduce and therefore can be dry and flaky.
Getting the balance right will mean the correct amount of oil is produced naturally. This can be a bit of trial and error. It can take up to four weeks to see the results of the product you are using, so have patience. If you have particular areas of concern like a greasy T zone or dry cheeks use a specific mask once or twice a week to target these concerns.
Put your best face forward
When it comes to fine lines and wrinkles will need to take a different approach. All of the above will certainly help your skin but unfortunately age is inevitable. With age comes the breakdown of collagen resulting the collapse of connective fibres and fine lines are formed. Fortunately advanced technologies can rescue our aging skin. Shape and tone Aesthetics uses the Lipofirm Pro, clinically proven to be safe and effective.
When heat is applied through the applicator head RF (radio frequency) energy heats up the collagen fibres causing them to contract. This results in immediate skin tightening. The heat triggers fibroblast cells to produce new collagen in the dermis which lay the foundations for further delayed tightening. This will be visible months after the treatment have finished. This change happens in the deeper layer of the skin (dermis) without damaging the top layer (epidermis) Overall the skin is smoother and firmer and fine lines are reduced. Alongside the heat gentle muscle stimulation is used along the jaw line to lift the jowls resulting in an instant face lift effect.
Having the Lipofirm facial once a week for three to six weeks will help reduce the wrinkles and give you the confidence to put your best face forward.
